App costs · 6–8 weeks, or 2–4 on Codeks Charge
How much does an EV charging app cost in 2026?
A charging app is a map, a live session and a payment, talking to chargers over OCPP. Built from scratch it is a Product Build at the top of the band, $18K–$25K, six to eight weeks. Deployed on Codeks Charge, the white-label platform built here, it is faster and lands lower.

Where the number comes from
Most of the cost is below the screen. Chargers speak OCPP 1.6 or 2.0.1 over WebSockets, and the backend has to hold a connection to every unit, start and stop sessions, meter energy, survive reboots and firmware quirks, and stay correct when a charger drops offline mid-session. That central system is the hard part, and it is the same hard part every operator pays for.
The driver app on top is more ordinary: a map with live availability and prices, a station page, reservations so a charger is free on arrival, card payment, and a live session view showing power, time and cost. RapidCharge, built here for Kosova, does all of that on iOS and Android and is generating revenue, with private chargers on the same network as public ones.
There are two ways to buy this. From scratch, the Product Build band covers the driver apps and an operator dashboard, with OCPP handled by a service rather than written again. Or on Codeks Charge, the multi-tenant platform behind RapidCharge: branded driver apps and an operator dashboard deployed in two to four weeks on your own cloud account, with an OCPP layer that took six months to build already in place.

What moves the price
Four things that change the number.
Writing the OCPP backend yourself
The central system is the expensive part and a product on its own. Codeks Charge exists so an operator does not pay for it twice.
Roaming
OCPI connections to other networks so drivers can charge on partner chargers. A standard, a certification and weeks of partner testing.
Hardware variety
OCPP is a standard; firmware is not. Each new charger brand is a day or two of testing against its quirks, which is why hardware-agnostic has to be proven in production, not only on paper.
Fleet features
Company accounts, driver cards, cost centres and monthly invoicing turn a consumer app into a fleet product and add an admin layer.

Questions
What people ask about ev charging app costs.
- What does deploying on Codeks Charge cost instead?
- A deployment is scoped like a Product Build and typically lands lower in the band than a build from scratch, because the OCPP layer, the apps and the dashboard already exist and the work is branding, configuration, your chargers and your payment account. The Codeks Charge page has the details and the two-to-four-week deployment term.
- Which chargers work?
- Any charger that speaks OCPP 1.6 or 2.0.1, which is nearly everything sold in the last few years. New brands are tested before launch; the platform behind RapidCharge has run a mix of vendors in production.
- Can drivers pay without an account?
- Yes, through a guest flow with a card and an email receipt, which several countries now require for public chargers. Accounts remain for reservations, history and saved cards.
- Who owns the platform and the data?
- You do. The apps are published under your developer accounts, the backend runs in your cloud account and the database is yours. On Codeks Charge the platform is deployed to you; sessions and customers never leave your infrastructure.
Already built it?
If the ev charging app exists already, built in Lovable, Bolt, Cursor or Replit, the number on this page is not yours: the $1.5K fixed Production Audit reads that ev charging app against the published checklist and quotes its fixes in five days.
